Privacy Policy
Your drives are your business. Here's exactly what Drivehelp does with your data. Short version: your trips, places and routines stay on your phone. Our server keeps only an optional account for credits, and short-lived community posts.
Big-Me Softwares ("we," "us," or "our") built Drivehelp ("Drivehelp" or the "App") with your privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App uses, where it goes, how long it's kept, and your choices.
1. The Short Version
Your drive data stays on your phone. Your trips, fuel log, cars, service records, saved places, routines and Drivehelp's memory are stored only on your iPhone. We don't hold them, so we can't see them, share them or move them for you.
An account is only needed for credits. To buy Drivehelp Packs and use the AI, voice, places and directions features, you sign in with Apple or Google. Your account holds your email, sign-in provider, credit balance, purchases and billing records (what feature was used and how many credits, never the content). You can delete it in the App at any time.
AI and Google requests pass through our server, and we don't store their content. Our server adds our keys, forwards the request to Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, and returns the answer. It keeps no prompts, voice, photos or locations.
Community features are optional and off until you turn them on. Their posts are deleted automatically within hours or days (Section 4).
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
2. Your Drivehelp Account (Only for Credits)
Most of Drivehelp works without an account: speed alerts, HUD, the fuel gauge, trips, drowsiness and break reminders, cars, service, routines, saved places and community reports. You need an account only to buy and use credits (Section 3).
2.1 Signing In
You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Apple or Google confirms who you are and gives us your email address. With Sign in with Apple, that may be a private relay address that hides your real email. Apple and Google handle sign-in under their own privacy policies: Apple and Google.
2.2 What Your Account Stores
- Your email address (possibly Apple's private relay address)
- Your sign-in provider (Apple or Google)
- Your credit balance
- The packs you've bought: date, product, credits and part of the App Store transaction id
- Usage records for billing: the type of feature used, the credits charged, the provider's cost and token counts. These records contain no content.
- A hashed device id, used to limit the free welcome credits to one per device
- Session tokens that keep you signed in, stored hashed
Payments are made through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles your payment details; we never receive them.
2.3 Deleting Your Account
Your account data is kept until you delete your account. You can do that in the App at Settings → Account → Delete my account. This deletes your account and its credit balance, and also revokes Sign in with Apple for Drivehelp. Anonymized purchase records may be kept as needed for accounting and refunds. You can also contact us (Section 19) to ask for deletion.
3. AI, Voice, Places & Directions (Through Our Server)
Features that use credits work through Drivehelp's server at drivehelp.bigmesoftwares.com/server/. When you use one, the App sends the request to our server over HTTPS. The server adds our company's keys, forwards the request to the provider, Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or Google, and returns the answer to your phone.
Our server does not store the content of these requests: no prompts, no voice recordings, no photos and no locations. It records only what's needed for billing: the type of feature, the credits charged, the provider's cost and token counts.
3.1 What May Be Sent, by Feature
- Voice co-pilot and assistant (Claude): your request text or transcript, and the app context needed to answer, such as your current speed, fuel estimate, trip stats, spending totals, service schedule and tire readings, approximate location and nearby place names, and, if memory is on, what Drivehelp remembers about you. After a chat, a short summary request is sent so the one-line note can be written. Claude may use web search to look up public information; those searches run on Anthropic's side.
- Photo reading (Claude): a dashboard or service-receipt photo, when you use those features.
- "Take me somewhere" (Claude and Google): your request text, plus the optional preferences you set (age group, interests, mobility and maximum distance), to understand the request and rank places; and search text and approximate coordinates to Google to find places. If someone mentions self-harm, Drivehelp shows crisis line numbers first.
- Talk summaries (Claude): if Talk is on, the text of messages from nearby drivers may be sent to be summarized for you.
- Transcription and natural voices (OpenAI): your voice recording, if you choose OpenAI for voice input, and the text of a reply, if you choose the natural reply voice. Apple's free speech recognition (on the device on iPhones that support it) and the iPhone voice don't use credits or our server.
- Google Maps, places and directions (Google): search and autocomplete text, approximate coordinates, and for directions, the route's origin, stops and destination.
3.2 The Providers
Requests are sent to the providers under Drivehelp's business account, and the providers handle the content under their own terms and privacy policies: Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. We don't control how long a provider keeps request data.
3.3 The Map
The map in the App is Google Maps (the Google Maps SDK for iOS, shown with Google's logo). Directions (Google Routes), place search and autocomplete, gas stations on the map and "Take me somewhere" use Google data through our server and use credits. Without credits, the App offers to open directions in a maps app instead. Low-fuel gas station callouts work without credits: they use Apple Maps search and are spoken only. Use of the Google map is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Community Features (Optional)
Drivehelp has three optional community features: road reports, Talk with drivers nearby and Share anonymous speeds. All three are off by default. You can turn each one on or off during setup ("Drive together (optional)") or at any time in Settings → Community. Nothing is sent for a feature that is off. They use Drivehelp's server at drivehelp.bigmesoftwares.com/server/.
4.1 No Account Needed
Community features don't need a Drivehelp account. The App creates a random device ID and sends it with community requests. Our server stores only a salted SHA-256 hash of that ID, never the ID itself, and uses it only for rate limits and to allow one vote per report. Talk messages show other drivers a public author tag that changes every day, not your device ID.
4.2 Road Reports
You can report police, a hazard, a crash or a traffic jam, by voice or by tap. Each report sends the kind of report, its location, your heading and, if you add one, a short note. Reports are shown to other drivers using road reports nearby.
- A report lasts 45 minutes. Drivers passing it are asked "Is it still there?". A "yes" extends it by another 45 minutes; two "not there" answers remove it.
- Reports are deleted 1 hour after they expire. Votes are deleted after 1 day.
4.3 Talk with Drivers Nearby
Talk lets you send short text messages to drivers within about 5 miles (8 km). If you speak a message, it is turned into text first (by Apple's speech recognition, or by OpenAI through our server if you chose it). Each message is sent with the display name you chose (optional), and your location, heading and speed at the moment you send it.
- Messages are visible for 15 minutes to drivers near where they were sent, and deleted from our server after 24 hours.
- A content filter rejects profanity, slurs, links and phone numbers.
- You can report or block a message. A message is hidden after 2 reports, and a sender with 3 hidden messages in a week is paused for 24 hours. Report records are kept for 7 days.
- Messages you receive are read aloud on your phone, and may be summarized by Claude (Section 3.1).
Talk messages are public to drivers nearby. Please don't include personal information about yourself or anyone else.
4.4 Share Anonymous Speeds (Crowd Traffic)
If you turn this on, the App sends samples of your speed, heading and position. The server adds them into cells of about 300 m, by direction and 5-minute window, keeping only running sums and counts. No raw tracks are stored. A cell is shown to other drivers only when at least 2 drivers are in it. These totals are deleted after 2 hours.
We don't use IP addresses to track you, and the server has no analytics or ads. As with any website, our web host sees the IP address a connection comes from in order to deliver it. We never sell or share community data.
5. Data Stored On Your Device
Drivehelp stores the following locally on your iPhone only. We don't have a copy:
- Your settings (max speed, units, alerts, HUD, voice and community preferences)
- Your first name, if you enter it, so Emma can use it in alerts
- Your cars and car photos, car names and personalities, tank sizes, MPG, odometer and recommended tire pressure
- Your service schedule, reminders you create, service history (dates, mileage, costs, shops) and tire pressure readings
- Fuel readings and your fill-up log, including amounts spent
- Trips: routes, distances, durations, speeds and driving events
- Trip plans and routes you navigate to
- Saved places: name, address and location, notes (up to 1,000 words), up to 5 photos and an 8-second voice memo, including places friends have shared with you and you've added
- Routines you set up (for example, "every weekday at 8:30 I go to work")
- Optional "Take me somewhere" preferences, if you set them (age group, interests, mobility and maximum distance)
- Drivehelp's memory, if "Learn about me" is on: places you drive to often (with the times you usually go), home and work, facts you share or ask it to remember, and one-line notes from your chats. You can view, edit or delete all of it in Settings → What Drivehelp remembers, or turn learning off.
- Developer connectors you add: name, description, URL and settings, plus a short activity list (method, path, status and time; bodies and tokens are never logged). Connector tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain.
- A random device ID for community features (Section 4), and your sign-in session, if you've signed in
Drivehelp does not sync this data to iCloud or to our server. Deleting the App deletes it from your iPhone, so export it first if you want to keep it (Section 10).
6. Device Permissions
Drivehelp asks only for the permissions its features need. You can change any of them at any time in iPhone Settings → Drivehelp; features that depend on a permission will stop working without it.
6.1 Location (While Using, and optionally Always)
Location is used to measure your speed, record trips, count down your fuel range, find gas stations and places, give directions, follow trip plans and routines, and keep alerts working while the App runs in the background. If you choose Always, Drivehelp can also detect when a drive starts while the App is closed so it can send the "I noticed you're driving" notification.
Your location history stays on your device. Location is sent only when a feature needs it: approximate coordinates to Apple (gas station callouts) and Open-Meteo (weather); approximate coordinates or route points to Google through our server when you use credit features (Section 3), without our server storing them; the location of your road reports, Talk messages and speed samples to our server, if community features are on (Section 4); and to a connector, only if you turn that on for it (Section 8).
6.2 Motion & Fitness
Motion activity is used only to confirm that your phone is in a car before showing the "I noticed you're driving" notification. It is processed on your device and not sent anywhere.
6.3 Camera & Photos
- Dashboard photos (fuel gauge, and any odometer or tire pressures shown) and service receipt photos: sent only when you use photo reading, through our server to Anthropic, and not stored by us.
- Car photos and saved-place photos: stored on your device only. They leave your phone only if you share a place or export a backup yourself (Sections 9 and 10).
- Drowsiness detection: uses ARKit face tracking with the Face ID (TrueDepth) camera to read your eyelid positions in real time on your device. No images or video are recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
6.4 Microphone & Speech Recognition
The microphone is used for voice requests, Talk messages and saved-place voice memos. For requests and Talk messages, your audio is recorded temporarily and converted to text either by Apple's speech recognition (free; on the device on iPhones that support on-device recognition) or, if you choose OpenAI in Settings → Voice input, sent through our server to OpenAI for transcription, without our server storing it. The temporary recording is overwritten each time you speak.
A saved-place voice memo (up to 8 seconds) is stored on your device and leaves it only if you share that place or export a backup yourself.
6.5 Notifications
Notifications (such as "I noticed you're driving", routines and reminders) are generated locally on your device. There is no push server.
While a drive is in progress, the App can show your speed, your speed limit setting and your fuel range on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (a Live Activity). This is generated on your device and is not sent anywhere, but anyone who can see your Lock Screen can see it. You can turn it off in Drivehelp Settings.
7. Services That Receive Data
| Service | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Drivehelp server (drivehelp.bigmesoftwares.com) | Signing in and credits; credit features; community features, if on | Account and billing data (Section 2); credit-feature requests, passed on and not stored (Section 3); community data (Section 4) |
| Anthropic (Claude), through our server | When you use the co-pilot, photo reading, "Take me somewhere" or Talk summaries | See Section 3.1 |
| OpenAI, through our server | When you choose OpenAI transcription or the natural reply voice | Voice recordings for transcription; reply text to be spoken |
| Google (Maps, Routes and Places), through our server | Directions, place search and autocomplete, gas stations on the map, "Take me somewhere" | Search text, approximate coordinates, and the route's origin, stops and destination |
| Google Maps SDK (in the App) | Showing the map | Handled by Google under its own policy |
| Apple or Google sign-in | Only when you sign in for credits | Your sign-in with that provider; we receive your email address |
| Apple In-App Purchase | When you buy a pack | Handled by Apple; we receive the transaction to add your credits |
| Apple MapKit | Low-fuel gas station callouts and finding nearby gas stations, which work without credits | Approximate coordinates and the search (for example, "gas station") |
| Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) | Showing the outside temperature and checking the weather | Approximate coordinates, sent directly from your phone. No key or account is used. |
| Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze app | When you choose to open directions in another app | The destination's coordinates are handed to the maps app you chose |
| Your own connector endpoints | Only if you add a developer connector and the co-pilot uses it | Sent directly from your phone, not through our server. See Section 8. |
| The app you pick in the iOS share sheet (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files…) | Only when you share a place or export a backup | The file, to wherever you choose. See Sections 9 and 10. |
Each of these services handles data under its own privacy policy: Apple, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, Open-Meteo and Waze. More about credits is on Drivehelp Packs.
8. Developer Connectors (Optional)
Connectors are an optional feature for developers. You connect your own HTTPS endpoint with your own token, and the co-pilot can call it for you, for example to order food, as a two-way conversation or through a REST API. The co-pilot's part uses credits. Details are in the developer guide.
- Connector calls go directly from your phone to that endpoint, never through Drivehelp's servers.
- What is sent: the messages or requests the co-pilot makes for you, plus your location only if you turn that on for that connector.
- What the endpoint replies is passed to the co-pilot (Claude, through our server, not stored) so it can relay it to you.
- You approve any change before it happens. The token stays in the iOS Keychain and is never sent to us.
- The endpoint is run by whoever you connect to, under their own terms and privacy policy. We don't control it.
9. Sharing a Saved Place
You can send a saved place to someone as a .drivehelpplace file through the iOS share sheet (Messages, Mail, AirDrop and others). The file contains the place's name, address and location, notes, photos, voice memo and your first name. It goes directly to the people you choose, through the app you pick, not through us. Recipients can import it with Add to my places, and it is then stored on their phone. Once sent, the file is under the recipient's control, so share only what you're comfortable with.
10. Moving to a New Phone
We don't move your data for you, because we never have it. Instead, the App has Settings → Move to a new phone:
- Export makes one
.drivehelpbackupfile with your trips, cars and photos, fuel, service, tires, saved places (with photos, voice memos and notes), routines, memory, connectors (without their tokens) and settings. - You save or send that file yourself, for example to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or Mail. It doesn't go through us.
- Import it on the new phone.
The backup file contains your personal driving history, so keep it somewhere safe and only send it to yourself. Your credits aren't in the file: they come back when you sign in with the same account on the new phone.
11. How Long Data Is Kept
| Data | Kept on our server |
|---|---|
| Account (email, sign-in provider, credit balance, hashed device id, hashed session tokens) | Until you delete your account |
| Pack purchases (date, product, credits, part of the transaction id) | Until you delete your account; anonymized purchase records may be kept as needed for accounting and refunds |
| Usage records for billing (feature type, credits, provider cost, token counts; no content) | Until you delete your account |
| Content of AI, voice, places and directions requests | Not stored by us. The providers handle it under their own policies (Section 3.2). |
| Road reports | Deleted 1 hour after they expire (a report lasts 45 minutes, extended 45 minutes by each "yes", removed by 2 "not there" answers) |
| Report votes | Deleted after 1 day |
| Talk messages | Deleted after 24 hours (visible for the first 15 minutes) |
| Talk report records | Deleted after 7 days |
| Crowd traffic totals | Deleted after 2 hours |
| Community rate-limit records | Deleted after 2 days |
| Trips, places, routines, memory and everything in Section 5 | Never on our server. On your iPhone until you delete them or the App. |
12. App Store Privacy Label
Drivehelp's App Store privacy label will list:
- Data linked to you, for billing only: contact info (your email address), purchases (packs bought), identifiers (your user id) and usage data (product interaction: which features used credits).
- Data processed only to answer a request and not stored by us: location and user content (such as request text, voice recordings and photos), sent through our server to the provider.
None of this is used for tracking, and none of it is sold. Community posts, which are kept only briefly, are described in Section 4.
13. Apple Services
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and packs are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase, both governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Apple may collect purchase data and device identifiers as part of the App Store experience, but this is outside our control.
14. Children's Privacy
Drivehelp is a driving app and is not directed at children under 13. Accounts and credits are for people 13 and older, and the community features are for drivers: you must be old enough to drive where you live to use them. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account or provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
15. Analytics, Advertising & Tracking
Drivehelp does not include any analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. There are no ads in the App. We do not track you across apps or websites, we do not use your account or billing data for advertising, and we do not sell or share your data. This website does not use cookies, analytics or trackers either.
16. Data Security
All connections between the App and our server, and between our server and the providers, use HTTPS. Our server stores session tokens and device ids only as hashes, keeps no content from AI, voice, places or directions requests, and deletes community data on the schedule in Section 11. Data on your device is protected by your iPhone's built-in security features (device passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, iOS encryption), and connector tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain. Keep your backup files and your Apple or Google sign-in secure. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we store small and, where we can, short-lived.
17. Your Rights & Choices
- Delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete my account, or contact us and we'll delete it.
- Ask us what your account holds, or for a copy of it, by contacting us (Section 19).
- Use Drivehelp without an account. Only credit features need one.
- Turn community features off in Settings → Community. The App then stops sending community data, and what was already sent is deleted automatically on the schedule in Section 11.
- Turn permissions on or off in iPhone Settings → Drivehelp.
- Turn off or delete connectors in Settings → For developers → Connectors; deleting one also deletes its token.
- Export your on-device data with Settings → Move to a new phone, or delete it by deleting the App (iPhone Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Drivehelp, or long-press the App icon).
- For data a provider (Apple, Google, Anthropic or OpenAI) holds under its own policy, you can also use that provider's privacy tools.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when the App gains new features. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes your acceptance.
